Israel

I was born and raised in The Netherlands. My mum was a great sewer but too busy to teach me. Bought my first 2nd hand sewing machine with my first earned money at age 16 and started making my own clothes from commercial patterns. Later sewed most of the kids’ clothes, curtains, etc. Started a basic quilting course after retirement from work in 2009 and was hooked straight away. My cupboard is full of traditional quilts which, if I can, I donate to a good cause. I am interested in all things textile and will not fail to visit textile museums and shows on my travels. I have taken many different courses with renowned textile artists in Israel, France, the UK and The Netherlands in order to acquaint myself with different techniques. Quilting, embroidery and specifically slow stitching and making fabric books are favourite pass times. Some of my quilts have been exhibited locally, in The Netherlands and the US.

The beautiful nature surrounding me in Israel where I now live, is my constant inspiration.

I am thrilled with the chance of the membership of the FifteenbyFifteen group, I trust it will challenge me to find new ways in expressing myself.
