The Sun

The tarot card related to the sun is no. 19.

The sun is the principle and energy source that gives life to the world. It is the absolute measure of the universe, the orderer of all the stars.

12 is the sacred number of the sun, 12 are the mantras in Yoga, 12 are the constellations of the zodiac through which the sun completes its annual journey, and 12 are the astrological houses.

Khepri, the god of the rising sun in Ancient Egypt, is associated with the scarab.

Man falls as an analogy between the universe and the human body. Leonardo da Vinci’s famous drawing is based on the theory of the Roman architect Vitruvius.

The bottom is made with transfer paint, and the Scarab is in appliqué, made with cotton fabrics painted with metallic acrylic.

Freehand embroidery and quilting. I used sewing, embroidery and metallic threads.
