I took the simplistic style of Mondrian’s paintings and the bright blocks of colour as my inspiration. I pieced the fabric using mainly commercial fabrics – for the black and white – I then added some of my own serendipity cloth (from cleaning wooden printing blocks after use). I then overprinted some pieces using a template – The Crafters Workshop mini template ‘Art is’and further embellished some of these words with hand stitching. I quilted the piece very simply with fancy stitching on the black lines so that it was as understated as possible and then added a traditional binding.
