Bozena Wojtaszek – Horizon

Kitchen horizons far and near

If you love cooking you know it is never just about combining ingredients for a meal. There are many level one can see the complex of the process. For this challenge I decided to call them horizons. Because there is more than one. The most obvious one is the table where the cooked dishes often form an interesting landscape even before we start to eat. But beyond the horizon of the table is another one – the line formed by kitchen board, stove, sink where the actual mistery happens. And when this happens it is hard not to think where all the products come from and not to reflect on the whole “farm to table” road. So that’s what I wanted to capture in my piece. It looks like a casual kitchen portrait but this time I focused on the lines of horizons trying to see them all in a glimpse.

Detail views:

  1. You have found the right perspective and depth. Well realized with a perfect cure of details. Bravo

Great to see how you have developed your theme and in doing so created horizons within horizons, lovely work!

  3. Lovely work, and I love your sense of details.

  4. So many horizons in one piece. A lovely, detailed design.

  5. I love this quilt because you have managed to effectively pack a lot of detail into it. The towel hanging from the edge of the table gives the eye a starting point that pulls the eye throughout the compostion. And I do see my “field” out the window, stretching out to the horizon!

  6. I like how you created the different horizons behind each other. A homage to cooking!

  7. What a wonderful way to stay within your kitchen theme and create all the different horizons. I love all your small objects on the table and the sink and the perspective of the land through the window. Well done.

  8. What a unique way of creating different horizons, beginning in the warm and inviting kitchen and working our way out through the window out to the fields, where it all begins.
    Wonderful details!

A well thought out and beautifully detailed piece. The more I look at it, the more details I see. The perspective you have created is lovely and draws the viewer into the picture. Beautiful

  12. Such a lovely domestic scene. It is the horizon for most of us most days. How novel is the obvious! Very nice work.
