Sonia Ruiz – Nature #1

Inspiration:  One of the iconic mountains surrounding Monterrey, Mexico, near where I used to live.

For the 1st challenge in our “Nature” series I would like to start with the Cerro de Silla, a Mountain and natural monument within the metropolitan area of the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, in northeastern Mexico. Here sports enthusiasts can enjoy this lovely, scenic region with hiking, extreme sports and other outdoor activities. It’s named for its distinctive saddle shaped profile when viewed from the west, it is a well known symbol of Monterrey.

Materials:  Hand dyed cotton bed linen, hand dyed gauze and jute, appliqué, french knots and machine quilting.

  2. I agree with Caro, the colours are perfect and the use of jute and gauze give your quilt texture. Bravo
