Diana Vincent – Rhythm of the Ocean

For this theme I have explored the rhythm of the ocean as the tides rise and fall. The cause of this “motion of the ocean” is gravity, specifically the gravitational forces of the sun and the moon.

This piece shows the high and low tides on opposite sides of the world, with the moon shining on. Hand dyed and commercial fabrics, raw edge appliqué, shading with Inktense pencils, and machine quilted.

    Beautiful shapes and colours !

  2. Beautiful quilt Diana. Love how you transformed your idea in these colors and shape.

  3. Diana, the colours and shapes really express your thoughts behind the quilt. I love the simplicity of the design. Paulette

  4. I really like how you’ve depicted the tides with the swirling water…and the moon ‘way out there, hovering quietly, as if it had nothing to do with it! 🙂
