Helen Hazon – Book #2

Pride and Prejudice

Inspiration – my almost lifelong love of Jane Austen’s novels.
The second novel published by Jane Austen was Pride and Prejudice in 1813. As in the previous
quilt I have used hand embroidery, raw edge applique and machine stitching. The words are the
names of some of the main people and places in the book.
All fabrics are cotton. Hand embroidery is in cotton and machine stitching is in rayon.

  5. Just perfect, prim and proper like Jane Austin herself! It is stunning and I love the way that the stitch colours match those of the fabric, excellent!

  6. Chantal Guillermet

It is a true “Jane Austen quilt” ! the delicate colors, the neat composition and stitches transport us into her world !

  7. So dainty and meticulously stitched, perfectly representing the Jane Austin era. Such a clever idea using the names and places as part of the design. Lovely.

  9. joanbrailsford

What a beautiful handworked piece that simply oozes the atmosphere that Jane Austen creates. I can almost see demure Georgian ladies sitting stitching in refined drawing rooms! The fabrics you have chosen perfectly suit the design. Great work

  10. I also really like Jane Austen’s books and especially this book. I read it, saw the series and the movie. beautiful work. Interesting your names choice and your stitching.

  11. .The embroidery is nicely done and the entire piece is well-balanced. I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I have never read any of Austen’s works so I am totally unfamiliar with these characters

  12. This second quilt in your Jane Austin series is a wonderful follow-up of your first one. As always I am in awe of your meticulous stitching and beautiful hand embroidery. Bravo!
