Bozena Wojtaszek – D

Inspiration: For the letters theme this year I decided to go with illuminated initials for food products. This is a perfect combination of my love for medieval art and food art. My D is for Dill – beloved addition to most of my vegetable dishes.

Again all of my favourite techniques were in use– applique, beading, embroidery, hand and machine quilting. I also dyed the background fabric for the “old papyrus” effect and painted some extra gold spots just like the medieval monks did.

Detail views:
  1. A great design, I love dill, the flower head is addition to the letter.

  2. You continue your series of miniatures very well. Reminds me of medicinal books from the Middle Ages. Painstaking realization. I really like the fineness and elegance of the dill. Bravo!

  3. Another beautiful letter both robust and dainty! I love the attention to details with the beads around the edges. Great work!

  4. Maryte Collard

It sure looks like a letter from the medieval manuscript. Dill sounds so simple but looks very elegant and rich in texture. It sure adds taste to your piece!

  5. Your choice of colour, the elegant shapes of the letter and the plant give to this piece a special atmosphere. Very nice.

  6. A beautiful letter that looks like the heading of a page of medieval writing. The dill has a very refined look to it, so elegant! All other details, the stitching, beading and touches of gold are beautiful and so fitting. Love it.

  7. This is beautiful in its simplicity. I like your choice of colors and the embroidery is wonderful.

  8. Love your subtle colors, the embroidered dill head and the adding of the gold spots, The whole piece says medieval . Well done.

  9. I love your series illuminated letter designs. this one is very gentle but with such lovely stitched details. Great.
