Susan Hill – Nature
“Nature” is everything; even in cities, the life that underlies pavement, bricks, cobblestones, and blacktop is always trying to break through, to reassert its rule. Tree roots cause sidewalks to buckle and heave; grass and vines find cracks in mortar. Each of these challenges creates a new status quo, which will itself be disrupted by new vines, grass, tough flowering plants, and the bugs and animals that live on them. My quilt is my response to that ongoing process.
The combinations of horizontal and vertical lines…and the injection of those pieced squares on the right…an interesting use of texture breaking through the “natural” colours of blues and greens. You’ve pared the wide theme down to its elements.
I love your bright fresh colours
