Caro Higgs – Contrast – Ooh la, la!

I had trouble getting started on contrast so I turned to my photo stash, found a photo which I liked and then played with the contrast button, the results really pleased me and the magic mushrooms were born. I printed each square separately on silk habotai and stitched each square before I put them together. I stab stitched by hand to high-light the coloured areas and then machine stitched around the form. The idea that magic mushrooms might make your head spin and blur your vision meant that I left the background vague but made sure that the mushrooms were rotating. Framed like photographs the edging was stuck and then stitched to hold the four pieces together invisibly.

  1. A novel idea, Caro — and wonderful stitching. (Thanks for the close-up!)

  2. I have to agree, I love the fact that you were able to use technology to interpret and print out your theme. Well done, love the hand stitching.
