Kathryn Hickling – Progress – Progression of Circle

This stumped me for a while. I kept going round in circles thinking – progress, progression, progress – this lead me to my design. Progress as a circle, starting off small and not quite circular growing in size and perfecting its shape.
I cut circles of different sizes from hand painted and dyed fabrics, then appliqued by machine. I quilted very simply, just enough to emphasise the progression of circles.

  1. Kathryn what a wonderful simplistic interpretation, I like the placement of the circles, sometimes it is hard to achieve balance in a square format.

Lovely subtle colours make this a really effective piece

  3. Love the simplicity and colors.
