My inspiration for Time #5 is the Māori Porowhita which means “Circle”. The Porowhita pendant symbolises life’s endless journey. It honours harmony, personal growth, and the meaningful connections we share with each other and with the natural world. A Porowhita is most commonly carved from pouname (New Zealand greenstone/jade). The Porowhita is given as a gift at special occasions, such as birth and other family celebrations.

I chose a green batik for the main symbol and a cotton textured fabric for the background. The background is machine quilted and the symbol is quilted by hand.
