Genevieve Guadalupe
Mexico
Genevieve Guadalupe is a Mexican print maker and fiber artist. She was born in the United States but raised in a small town in south Belgium. She grows up in a textile world, spinning, natural dyes, weaving and sewing. In the mid 80’s she studies languages in Mexico City. Starting 2000 she works as a seamstress and costume designer for ballet companies in the US. In 2009 she studies printmaking and later textile conservation and restoration in Peru. Lately she collaborates as a guest artist with two Mexican organic clothing companies: mymorganics and raiz.so. She feels deeply connected with nature and it is her main artistic theme, way of life, activism and materials of choice in her artwork. In her works she likes to merge different techniques, combining printmaking with textile art.
