Elsy Menko – Country – Landscape
Dutch landscape
This characteristic Dutch meadow landscape with cows is inextricably linked to the image of the country. These cows are the lucky ones, they get to be outside. 31% of the approximately 3 million cows in Holland stay inside stables the whole year and this percentage is on the rise. The demand for dairy products keeps growing and less pasture is available for an ever increasing number of cows. One of my memories from childhood is meadows full of cows. I truly hope that in the future their presence will not disappear from the landscape altogether.

No mistaking Holland with your Holstein Friesian cattle, I grew up on a farm with these cows and their inquisitive characters, not to mention their milk! Very effective piece.
Great design and depiction of your country.
Elsy I feel like Im walking around my Kibbutz. Charming
Your cows are lovely and look so real ! I love how you have treated your background especially the sky !
Your cows are so sweet. I love the piecing of the background and the quilting in different directions. It adds a lot to the piece. Bravo.
Happy cows, I can tell looking at their eyes! Thank you for your attention to environmental issues.Small cows in the distance give perspective to your piece. Good job!
I love how you executed the cows. The small cows and the details on the horizon gives more dept. Beautiful!
Oh, your cows look gorgeous! I remember driving through Holland with cows everywhere, Hope we’ll be able to be more responsible for their better future.
I LOVE this piece. This is really Holland and makes me homesick. Yes my childhood memory too is about meadows full of cows. Your cows are so real executed. The small cows in the distance give the piece depth and your sky and meadow are beautiful pieced together. Bravo.
The cows are so charming and remind me of the farmlands in Texas where I lived as a child. Your depiction of the sky is very realistic.
I love this piece and the wonderful expressions you have created on the faces of the cows. They certainly do look happy to be outside. The colours are perfect and the whole piece is beautifully worked. Well done
What contented cows – gentle and curious too. You have given them beautiful faces.
The pieced background and stitching are a perfect back drop for your happy and beautiful cows. There is a peaceful and relaxing feel to your charming composition.
