Kaylene Maalste – Country – Landscape

Inspiration: The many layers of the countryside in and around my home town of Goolwa, South Australia.

Method: Pieced layers of material. The different layers represent, farmland, open road, Orchards, wetlands, hillsides with wind farms, desert regions and land that has suffered from fires. The eucalyptus leaves is fabric designed by Australian Aboriginal artists and is my acknowledgement of their country. The bark on the tree is dyed cheese cloth, and hand embroidery. The perspective is from standing under the tree looking into the distance.

I recognized your style from the first look! Love the design with the perspective. Love the details, especially those, that add texture: hand embroidery, cheese cloth and small pieces of fabric in the orchard. Really unique piece, I agree with Chantal.
