Ann Turley – Artist style #4

Continuing with the theme of Faces, inspired by the works of Paull Klee, this is My Eye. Klee created The Eye in 1938, using jute as his substrate and pastel as his medium. There was little in the way of reasearch on this piece, so I will leave it to your imagination. I added hair and was inspired by another Klee work, and stamped the curls in with a hand-made stamp. This is made with commercial cottons.

The Eye 1938 (Klee’s original work):

  1. I like the way your composition is unexpectedly off kilter, giving it a fun little whimsical feel and more your own. The quilting adds depth, texture and movement. Great interpretation and choice of colors. Well done!

  2. It looks like this lady is giving me a wink. It is definitely Klee’s style of “less is more” and leaves a lot to your imagination. Very nice and effective quilting.
