Bozena Wojtaszek – Book #1

Around the table

My idea for the Book theme is to go down the memory lane through my favorite books about food in a very broad meaning. I’m starting with Silvia Malaguzzi’s “Food and Feasting in Art”. This book, beautifully illustrated with masterpieces of western art, explores the rituals, customs, and symbolism of food and dining through the history. The title for Polish edition is “Around the table” which perfectly fits for my starting piece in this series.

Commercial cottons and linens, machine applique and quilting, hand embroidery.

  1. An interesting subject with great attention to detail. I love the close up of the plates of food and the way that you have framed the piece with the title. Lovely work!

  2. Already in previous series your topics were related to food and cooking. Here you represent a beautiful laid table. The presentation of the delicious dishes is impressive. Curious to know the next menus. Bravo,

  3. Interesting to see if your menus are specifically Polish. Your table is laid out very nicely with all those different plates of food. Great attention to detail.

  4. Chantal Guillermet

I admire how you managed to stay true to your theme from one year to the other ! The use of kitchen linen as background is lovely !

  5. I was waiting to see what you were going to choose and you didn’t dissapoint me. Great! Very inviting place and very tasty looking dishes!

    Well done, Bozena.

  6. I love the way that you have set the table, and set the scene, for this piece. The colours give the impression of a clean and neat dining room, just ready for a meal to be served. Your stitching is really well worked and I am very keen to see the next in your series on food

  7. Nice idea. I’m curious to see how you get on with it

  8. It looks you used kitchen towels for your background. This is a theme that suits you very well.

  9. Great concept, I wonder what comes next? Your work is quite charming, I love the placement of the plates on the table.

  10. You have created a very inviting picture. The design is clear and the details in the table setting and food are great.

  11. What a fascinating book and you have illustrated the story in a way that we can all relate to.

  12. Food and art are intertwined forms of expression, both engaging multiple senses and evoking emotions and memories. Lovely composition and hand embroidery. Well done!
