Susan Hill – Memories – Layers
We all have favorite memories. Rather than pick one, and try to express it in stitch, I decided to go after the way memories work. Memories usually involve layers – one image opens another, and so on. I built this piece as a crazy quilt, deliberately asymmetrical, as memories present themselves. I also experimented with embellishment to suggest the idea of “memories” as complicated parts of our interior lives.

Powerful and evocative. Thank you.
I have to agree, this is another unique quilt and how memories work. The batiks work well with this theme. Well done
I love how you worked on the process of how we remember. It is a unique way to express the theme.
