Ann Turley – P

P is for Piano

Inspiration: Piano Keyboard, Rock-a-billy music.

When I was very young, Jerry Lee Lewis was very popular and man, could he pound out a tune! He stood as he banged on the keyboard, twisting and turning as he sang. It often seemed as if the whole piano was gyrating with him! In my offering for P, I hope I have conveyed this image with the contorted keyboard. Materials used were commercial cottons and threads.

I really like you take on the subject and your interpretation has worked really well. You are truly rocking around the clock! ( We had that record in our common room at school and it was left in the sun and warped, we still played it non-stop!)

  2. Your piano is moving with the music, we can hear it when looking at your quilt ! well done.

Your design really gives the feeling of movement and the fabrics work so well together. I really like this piece, well done.

  4. Beautiful interpretation, and knowing the story makes it all the more delightful.

  5. O this really takes me back in time. My first dance lessons and boyfriends…. swinging to his music. Very vibrant interpretation and beautiful executed.

  6. A very effective interpretation of your musical theme. Makes me dizzy with its movement!

  7. Perfectly powerful piano!

  8. English quilter

This is a very bold, graphic interpretation of the theme. I love the clock in the corner referring to a song title from the era. A great interpretation to remind us of simpler times.

  9. Maryte Collard

Love your choice of background fabrics that works with the idea. Your piano really makes loud sounds!

  10. This quilt really rocks around the clock. It’s moving like Jerry Lee Lewis himself.

  11. Moving and dancing, you captured it with this crazy piano quilt, lovely!

  12. Wonderful abstract interpretation with lots of twisting and turning. The circular forms and the linear lines makes the quilt dance! Love it!
