Helen Hazon – Country – Landscape

Inspiration: Landscapes from three very different areas of India that I have visited .

India is a vast country and so has a huge variety of landscapes including sandy deserts, lush forests, farmland and snowy mountains. For this quilt I chose three very different places to represent this variety. First the peaks of Kanchenjunga which is on the India/Nepal border and is the third highest mountain in the Himalayas. Second, tea gardens on the hillsides in Darjeeling and finally sunrise over a small lake in the desert of Gujarat.

The fabric is hand dyed Indian cotton and all embroidery was done by hand using stranded cotton. Quilting is minimal and in invisible thread.
