Inspiration – the landscape paintings of David Hockney and the scenery of the Applecross peninsula in NW Scotland.

My second quilt in this series shows a view from the northern side of Applecross Bay looking South. The row of trees is always a beautiful sight especially when seen from the North against a blue sky. One of the photos I have included (taken by one of my sisters) shows this on a lovely sunny day. For most of the year the gorse bushes around the shore and the river banks are bright yellow with their coconut scented flowers. I took this photo on a sunny summer day when they were particularly colourful.

I have used bright colours in the fabrics for this quilt to try to convey Hockney’s landscape style. All fabrics are cotton and the embroidery threads are cotton, rayon and polyester.
