Kaylene Maalste – Memories – Macarthur
My Memories quilt is about the landscape of my childhood, the river, the cultivated paddocks and distant bushland. I have always wanted to do a strip pieced quilt and it was an experience, I got a little wonky but that is what happens. I used a lot of batik fabrics and quilted using a diamond grid pattern
I love the combination of the horizontal strips and the cross-hatched quilting. The colours are so peaceful…trusting that your memories are the same. 🙂
Yes Margaret, I have happy memories of this very small town in rural Victoria. Cheers
I was there and Kaylene has captured the wide blue skies of Australia, the river that ran theought the town, the distant hills and the colours of the dry land. Well done
Yes you were there and put me up the tree with your sister and ran away. Cheers
You have it all there Kaylene, I can feel a hot summers day and the cool river in those colours. So wonderful to have those cherished memories of childhood.
yes, there was a swimming hole which was fun as a kid. Cheers
Beautiful quilt Kaylene ! I love the colours and the impact of the quilting on your piece !
