Maryte Collard – Book #3

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is another book by Haruki Murakami that I enjoyed reading.

In this book a young man  searches for his wife’s missing cat, and then for his wife as well. As these searches intersect, he encounters a bizarre group of characters and visits mysterious places.

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle delves into the concept of reality and subjective experience. It blurs boundaries between the physical and the metaphysical and I had to learn how to understand symbolism hidden behind simple things and happenings. In my next quilt, book #4, I am going to look inside that well.

I used all my hand-dyed fabrics and raw edge technique for this quilt, and it is machine quilted.

The colors are so intense that they make the cat and the mechanical bird stand out so strongly ! I love your quilting on the green part.

A very effective comparison of the reality and the subjective. The colours are great and the stitching so neat and varied giving texture to the piece. Well done.

  3. How delightful, love the simplicity and your quilting is perfect.

  4. Good use of high contrast colors and elements. The proportional size differences between the bird, cat and well makes me wonder what is going on in that well? The quilting in the sky is quite effective.
