Bella Kaplan – Decay #2

In continuation of the first challenge, I continue in the same theme, the results of the burning plants. In this work, the black colors of the burning are less visible, but there are plants here that have dried up because their source of livelihood has died. The trunk and roots have dried up and the leaves have failed .
Cotton fabrics, machine quilting,  hand  dyed background.  The plants are made in the style of breakdown printing, screen printing in black.

The way you have placed the plants and their shapes is very elegant. I like the black screen print addition on the leaves.

  2. The colors in the background fabric create a wonderful atmosphere.
The plants and composition are beautiful.

A great piece of work which depicts decaying nature so clearly. Great fabric choice, the colours work so well together.

  4. I had to go back to look at your Decay #1 and now I see the continuation of your work. Fabric choice is excellent and black marks on leaves really tell the story of burn.

  5. You picked the perfect fabrics for this piece. I love the screen printed black details.

  6. The results of fire can become beautiful in their own way. Black creates contrast and visual intertest. The straight line quilting was a good choice.

  7. The breakdown printing technique creates such a lovely dimensional effect and the black screen printing adds depth and contrast giving me the illusion of a skeletal feel. Beautiful colors and composition. Well done!

  8. Great choice of fabric and implies the dying and decay of the plants. Great idea to place on a simple effective backgroound.

You have created a lovely image of the decaying plants by use of the details in their shapes. The fabrics you have used for this purpose are perfect. Very effective

  12. A very sad subject made into abstract art by clever choice of fabrics and colours. Simple quilting highlights the dramatic design.

  13. Excellent choice of fabrics and the screen printing adds so much to the overall effect of decaying leaves. Well done!

  14. You show dry and decayed plants that are stiil full of power and energy, great job!
