Bella Kaplan – Book #1

I chose the challenge from the Bible, “The Song of Songs”. It’s a love story.    I chose chapter 7 verse 13.

” Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see whether the vine hath budded, whether the vine-blossom be opened, and the pomegranates be in flower; there will I give thee my love.”

The  Song of Songs is a part of the Bible. Also known as the Song of Solomon.  Is a series of love songs between spouses, a man and a woman, addressed to each other these songs were interpreted allegorically, as a parable for the relationship between Israel and its God. Many verses were composed into songs that are an inspiration to feelings and emotions, describes colors and intensity, and glorify landscapes and way of life.

There are many poems in this scroll, some describe rural nature, and others   descriptions of women’s and men’s bodies, and express the ends of the lovers and their passion, and finally the joy of their meeting.

Self-dyed fabrics, screen printed, machine quilted.
