Bozena Wojtaszek – Time #2

Childhood

We start to see changes of seasons, recurrence, but we don’t see the passing of time, even at the Birthday celebrations. People come to our life and disappear but we don’t know why. We hear about people we’ve never met but who are still present. Death is an abstract word despite the fact we hear it even in fairytales. But we are still the center of Universe and we truly enjoy seeing the progress of ourselves.

Machine quilting and hand beading on the pieced and slightly dyed background.

Woaww gorgeous! I love the way you work your background. Great attention to details and lovely beading work. There is so much movement in your quilt, life moving, coming and going. A very emotionally moving piece for me. Bravo!

  2. I love the background with all the textures created by stitching and beading. But I noticed something: the black lace expanded. I wonder what is going to happen to it in future quilts of Time?

  3. As always, there is a carefully thought out and strong backstory to your piece.
Beautiful colors and beautifully executed. So many nice details.

  4. Your text explaning childhood is like a poem ! and it makes me think of my grandson when he is asking questions about life. I love how you are working on the background.

  5. A lovely piece with beautiful textures. The stitching and beadwork are lovely, adding detailing and little highlights. The colours in the background are subtle and beautifully blended.

I love this piece which is full of colour, movement and beautiful stitching, yet is somehow very peaceful and natural. The addition of the small ‘flower’ and its ‘tail’ gives the impression of us drifting along as life goes on around us. Lovely work

  7. Lovely way of letting us watch the crocheted flower grow with each piece as time goes by. Love the colors, texture, stitching and beading details. Stunning!

  8. The background color is calming. I love the combination of beads in the stitching.

  9. I understand your thoughts and concepts, does the flower represent us or death? The background is delightful and a credit to you use of colour, stitching and beading.

  10. Stunning, so much intricate detail, love the colours. The expanding flower is a great concept for the passing of time, love it!

  11. A beautiful continuation in your series. The growing flower does remind me of sperm, the start of all human beginnings and life. The background is soothing and moving at the same time. Lovely stitching and beading.

  12. The background is what draws me into your quilt. I love all the little details in both the quilting and the use of embellishments.
