Els Mommers – Decay #6
ARTIST STATEMENT: DECAY # 6
For this last Decay piece I choose for a simple wooden cottage with an old man looking out of the window. This to be a contrast to Decay #5 where an old woman looks out of the window.
I painted it with different shades of acrylic brown on white fabric and after drying added some white paint to it.
The shutters are made from painted Wonder Under, later treated with acrylic medium for protection.
The old man is hand painted and his shirt and cap are appliqued. Over the shutters and man I sewed black tulle.
The lines for the beams are quilted. Old vases and shards are fused and appliqued.
The biggest vase is filled with a faded plant, made from color gradient mohair.
