Artist statement DECAY # 2

After attempting to depict another form of decay, I decided to continue with damaged walls and doors. This will give some more adhesion in my series I hope.

I started printing with an old thermofax with  stones as the background and covered it with painted fusible. I went over it with acrylic wax so it wouldn’t get damaged.

The wall is  covered with some puffpainted, on lutrador, pieces, then I painted  old bricks in several places  to emphasize the decay even more.

For the door I used some commercial wood fabric that I  over painted and free motion quilted with some black felt behind it. The soldering iron gave it the decayed look.

To continue with old people that symbolizes “Decay” I added an old men with a young girl as a contrast to the “old”.

It was painted, appliqued  and threadpainted and the whole piece is free motion quilted.
