Bella Kaplan – Decay #6

This is  the last challenge for this year. This time I changed the theme and returned to the reality of today.
Where I live there is an ancient house made of basalt blocks and the door is made of metal. The house was used when it was built to house humans and animals. The door has changed its face and today it is a rusty door with many rust spots with a wonderful texture.
I tried to create something similar when I rusted white cotton fabric to create the object.
The quilt is made of cotton fabric,   machine quilted.

  1. Very decorative decay, well done!

  2. Great depiction of your home, the rust colour is very vibrant.

  3. This is a wonderful piece, I love the way that you have created depth to the piece by layering the fabrics. The rust dyed patterns are lovely.

  4. I love how the center piece and the background work together creating depth and texture. Beautiful work.

  5. I like the way that you have used rusted fabric to depict this beautiful old door. The addition of the key detail is a great idea. The background fabric and stitching works beautifully against the rusty door. Great work

  6. Very nice use of rust colored fabric! You have captured the look of a rusty door well.
Your entire series creates a really nice whole.

  7. Your rusted fabrics work very well to create the textures of the old door. This is set off well by the background fabric and the stitching.

  8. Rusted fabrics always look very textured and the addition of fused elements accentuates this effect. Interesting piece.
