Iina Alho – Decay #2
Job #2: Despair
This is the second piece in my series based on the Book of Job in the Old Testament.
Job describes his desperation and longing for peace, using water as an image of constant, unrelenting pain, pouring out without end.
Job 3:24-26
For sighing has become my daily food; my groans pour out like water. What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.
“Job #2: Despair” is pieced and fused. It is freemotion quilted, freemotion appliquéd, hand embroidered and painted.

Iina I love this piece ! it is in the same time abstract and realistic ! I like how the appliqué stream and quilting are melting together.
Great work! I really like the interpretation of decay in this work, the colours work well and the stitching is wonderful.
I was amazed to discover that you were able to show a decay of emotions in such a beautiful way. I just hope that you will continue this theme in future works. You were able to capyure movement with so tiny pieces of the applique, great!
This deeply reaches my emotions. It is beautiful.
I really like what you did. A work that consists of two colors and is really perfect.
Great composition and effective stitching. Lovely second piece of your series.
A wonderful and very moving portrayal of the struggles of Job. I was surprised to discover your inclusion of multiple french knots – a great choice to depict the water.

Such a moving and unique interpretation of decay evoking Jobs sense of relentless overwhelming distress and lack of peace with the turbulent water. Love the abstract design and all the stitching details. Well done.
