Chantal Guillermet – Decay #6 The Kutch village

For Kutch village my inspiration is a photo taken in India in a village we passed through. The houses were in a state of great disrepair, with filth piling up outside but for these people it was a place to live. The whole place was sad despites some touch of color.

I tried to capture the essence of the place.

Machine-embroidered and painted collage, fabric and paper dyed or breakdown printed, rust dyed fabrics, acrylic paint, neocolor II, inktense blocks.

  1. You succeeded in capturing the essence, very sad and unfortunately very real.

  2. Great capture of the photo in fabric. The choice of fabrics is ideal to your theme.

  3. A great choice of fabrics to create the feeling of decay and filth. Lovely work.

  4. Even describing the decay and filth you stay faithful to your style- pastel colors and attention to details. Beautiful piece.

  5. I like the way that you have captured the decay and disrepair of this sad place. You have used great techniques and fabrics to bring out the essence of the buildings and their surroundings. Great work

  6. What a great piece!
You have really captured both the atmosphere and the colors.

  7. Good use of colours and techniques to represent the state of the village. A very successful interpretation.

  8. I feel like I’m at the scene. Good use of techniques and color.
