Caro Higgs – Decay #2 – Leaves

Inspired by the patterns of leaf veins as they decompose and the old piece of work on de-coloured black cotton.

I have continued to stitch a part of the tree used for the first in my series adding leaf prints, lino and wood block, to the thermofax patterns from the original work. I have then hand stitched the veins with variegated threads, the print colours were chosen to depict differing stages of decay, the background is hand stitched

    The leaves, coloured ones and quilted ones, are blending together so well ! it makes the surface very interesting.
