Genevieve Guadalupe – Artist style #4

In the style of Hilma af Klint.

The Flower shape. The flower shape is very present in af Klint’s work, as she drew her inspiration from nature. In this quilt I chose to display the flower as a single and unique form. The sun (masculine) and the moon (feminine) are linked to the flower, showing the importance of polarity in all living things.

Materials and technique: cotton fabric, poly thread, cotton batting, oil base inks, embroidery floss. Monoprint printed on fabric, machine quilted, hand embroidered.

  1. Very effective use of mono-printing, I love the simplicity and gentle colours; great stitching as well. Lovely piece of work.

  2. Stunning, of course I admired hand quilting. Great interpretation, I think with our artist quilts it is important to know how the artist approached their work, so thank you for the explanation of her work.

  3. Chantal Guillermet

Quiet piece enhance by your beautiful hand quilting !

  4. Maryte Collard

I really love this one, it speaks to me, it calms me, it is very spiritual. Beautiful texture!

  5. I love the mono-printing, and the quiet colors you used. And of course the stitching is great as well.

  6. It is beautiful in its simplicity. Subtle colours and superb handstitching.
