Greetje Hein – Country – Landscape
Iceland has a big variety in his landscape: rough country-side, volcano’s, calm meadows, lupine fields, waterfalls, lagoons, black lava, hot springs, mountains, fjords, little churches between the small villages, but no trees at all.
It was difficult to decide what to pick for this landscape-quilt. I decided to join a few things together to give an idea of the lovely country-side. Of course waterfalls coming down from the black lava rock; the water falling into the blue lagoon. A lupine field in front, some horses running on the meadow and a small church in the middle of nowhere.
I used only snow-dyed fabrics (just the church is commercial fabric). I cut this fabric into 1 inch squares and created the background. I first stamped the lupine-field with fabric paint using a sponge. After that the flowers are free motion quilted with zig-zag stitch.
The waterfalls are created with glitter angelina fibers and some cotton floss at the bottom. I stitched this with rayon thread on the background.
The whole piece is free motion quilted.
