Genevieve Guadalupe – Country – Architecture

Farm house

Architecture varies a great deal in Peru, from pre-Incan, colonial, modern to amazonian, but one particular architecture remains the same throughout the Altiplano. It is the beautiful little farm house, a house made out of adobe with a reed roof. Some just have a front door in the middle, some have a window on either side of the door. The roofs are always perfectly made. They have the same look and color (earth tone) and blend in beautifully in the vast landscape. This ancient architecture remains alive today, evoking a sense of tranquility and peace.

Materials and technique: cotton fabric, cotton batting, poly/cotton thread, embroidery floss, printing ink, printing block. Machine pieced, raw edge applique, machine quilted, hand printed, hand embroidered.

  1. This piece has a feeling of remoteness, small buildings in the middle of nowhere. I will be intrigued to see all your pieces together at the end of the year because there is a really strong common thread between them.

  2. The beauty of simplicity. You have the ability to give positive vibrations with little details and the power of the colours. The continuous presence of the alpacas makes the fil rouge in your series. I love it.

  3. Maryte Collard
