Spiraling Crown

Spiraling Crown was inspired by the on-going world corona virus pandemic. I used an orphan paper pieced block and added several more rounds, log cabin style. Everything is from commercial cottons. A well-placed yo-yo adds a bit of visual interest and texture. The detail photo shows my use of a variegated quilting thread.

Detail view:

  1. Love the simplicity of the design and strong visual impact of the colour combination!

I love this piece; despite at first seeming to be totally irregular it is actually beautifully constructed respecting very regular lines. The colours work perfectly as does the yo-yo. A lesson on never forgetting the orphaned pieces in the store!

  3. Interesting construction and perfect piecing and quilting ! the colour combination catches the eyes.
