Helen Hazon – Decay

Bracket fungus

While walking through woods in NW Scotland a few years ago, I came upon this beautiful bracket fungus growing on a dead tree trunk.

Fungi fit perfectly into the topic of Decay. These wonderful, often overlooked organisms are amazingly important in the whole cycle of life, breaking down dead plants and animals into free nutrients that are then available for the next generation’s use.

My fungus quilt is made from silks and is machine stitched with acrylic threads.
